The ongoing monitoring and management of suppliers can remove the need for corrective action and expensive replacement. Good supply stretches over several tender cycles. Active management not only improves the ongoing quality of supply, but also lowers costs. It is a case of effective preventative action. Having contracted good and fair terms that cover all the necessary details, you need to insure yourself against non-performance, both qualitative and financial. Corporate travel supply tends to be highly sales driven. A supplier’s attention can shift to the next account win. Slippages in pricing and service levels are not uncommon.
